In the legal and value system of Islam, the position of the mother holds a fundamental significance in the realms of upbringing, custody, and childcare. The present study aims to elucidate the pivotal role of the mother in three key areas: "custody" (Hadanah), "breastfeeding" (Rada'), and "childcare," through a profound analysis of revelatory teachings and jurisprudential opinions. Employing a descriptive-analytical method, this study is organized based on original interpretive sources and authoritative jurisprudential texts. In this regard, by analyzing verses related to the rights of the minor, breastfeeding, and guardianship (Wilayah), the perspectives of jurists concerning the priority of the mother over the father were examined. The research findings indicate that the Holy Quran, considering the best interests of the child and innate biological bonds, regards the mother's role in meeting biological, psychological, and emotional needs as irreplaceable and prior to others. Furthermore, jurisprudential principles, citing the necessity of maintaining the tranquility and balanced growth of the minor, emphasize the mother’s active role and right of priority during the sensitive period of early childhood. The results suggest that the fulfillment of maternal rights in the aforementioned fields not only ensures the realization of gender and familial justice but also paves the way for the comprehensive development of the child and the excellence of the future generation in the light of Islamic Sharia.
